Lake Erie Yearly Meeting seeks to promote events that reflect our values and that members will find interesting, useful and/or enriching and inspiring. We host our own online events (see calendar below) and are quite open to co-hosting or helping to promote events organized by Monthly Meetings wishing to share their event beyond their own members.
If you have an event you’d like to have co-hosted or just listed in the LEYM events calendar, please check that your proposed date doesn’t conflict with events already scheduled, and then share your event details using the button below.
Struggling to find the right meeting date for everyone on your committee? Looking for quick feedback on an idea or possible decision your team is contemplating? Consider using LEYM’s free no-registration required Framadate tool which is similar to a Doodle Poll. You can use it to suggest possible dates for a meeting or to gather input on participant preferences prior to making a decision. Quite helpful!

Quaker Picnic at…
Quaker Picnic at Euclid Creek Metropark September 8, 202411:00 am - 2:30 pm
Cleveland Friends Meeting is planning a picnic on September 8 in the Euclid Creek Metropark. In honor of previous Five and Six Friends Meetings picnics you are all invited. We have also invited the congregation of Greater New Canaan Ministries, a Black Pentecostal church that we have shared worship, picnics, fellowship and food service to the hungry with. We will have worship at 11am and food and fellowship afterwards. The picnic area is in a shelter with grills and picnic tables. There is plenty of play area for children and enough parking. No refrigeration or indoor accommodations. Accessible porta-potties are available. If you are interested in joining us we can give you more information as we are still in the planning stages. The space is reserved. In Peace, Jim Brinza, clerk, Cleveland Friends Meeting.

We encourage participants to find a companion that you can meet with every week or two over Sept – Nov 2024. It would be great if you both attend the sessions, but not necessary. During these sessions, we will pair Friends up randomly for companion time to broaden our experience.

More about Schoolcraft and the Thomas House:
Schoolcraft is a small town about 15 miles south of Kalamazoo Meeting, on Rt. 131. The home of Dr. Nathan Thomas served as a "station" on theUnderground Railroad. Dr. Thomas, the first doctor in Kalamazoo County and a Quaker who avidly supported and ledabolitionist efforts in Michigan, first built the house in 1835 on the corner of Cass St. and Centre St. Between 1840 and 1860, it is estimated that Dr. Thomas and his wife Pamela Brown Thomas sheltered between 1,000 and 1,500fugitive slaves on their way to Canada. Dr. Thomas built a new house in 1868 and the original house was moved to its present site on Cass St. east of U.S. Route 131. The house is listed on theNational Register of Historic Places
